My name is Tracey, sometimes Mum, Mama, Nana, Racyma, or Bohomama, depending on who you are.
I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, and lover of nature, especially the beach and bush; I love a good book; but what fills my bucket completely is spending time with my whanau.
I have a Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood Education and have worked in the industry for 25+ years. I believe that our tamaiti have the right to grow, learn, and teach at their own pace, in an environment where they are accepted for who they are.
The biggest influencers in my journey through life have been my father, children, and Aotearoa as a whole. Life is a journey, embrace it, love it, walk it and believe that you are the best version of you there is.

Cheeky Joker, or even Aunty Rach, and I wear each name with aroha. I am a proud mama of two, and I have been working in ECE in Whangamata for over 20 years.
I am deeply passionate about understanding the “why” behind behaviour, and have a strong interest in early brain development, emotional regulation, self-advocacy, and early literacy. I enjoy keeping up with current peer-reviewed research and believe that consistent, compassionate support helps every learner thrive in their own way.
At the heart of my teaching philosophy is manaakitanga – creating a safe space where every child feels safe, supported, seen, heard, and loved. I believe in radical kindness, acceptance, and fresh starts. Every day is a new opportunity for growth, connection, and learning, and I strive to reflect that in all areas of my teaching practice.
I value the wairua each tamaiti brings into our learning environment and love building strong relationships with whanau.
Outside of teaching, I love exploring forests, rivers, and beaches, op shopping for hidden treasures, and spending time with animals. I have never owned a dog myself, but I will stop to meet every dog I see.

I am currently in my second year of study completing a Bachelor of teaching in Early Childhood Education. I am also a proud mum of 5, and this plays a big role in shaping my approach as a kaiako, helping me understand the importance of trust, care, and relationships with tamariki and their whanau. My teaching is guided by whanaungatanga and manakitanga, with a strong belief that children learn best through play, connection, and meaningful experiences. I am passionate about creating a warm, inclusive environment where every child feels a sense of belonging.
I especially enjoy offering hands-on experiences such as messy play, creative arts, and outdoor exploration, where tamariki can express themselves and grow in confidence. I also value weaving te reo and tikanga into my everyday practice, supporting children to develop a strong sense of identity in Aotearoa. For me teaching is about building genuine relationships and walking alongside tamariki and their whanau as they learn and grow.

My name is Jaspinder Kaur, and I am proud to be part of this learning community. I am originally from Ludhiana, Punjab, India, and come from a Sikh Punjabi background.
I was born and raised in Ludhiana, where I also got married. My husband and I are blessed with two wonderful children — our daughter, who is 9 years old, and our young son, who is 2.5 years old.
In 2019, I moved to New Zealand with a dream of becoming a teacher in Early Childhood Education. Back in India, I worked as a primary and secondary school teacher, which helped me build a strong foundation in teaching. I have continued my journey here by completing my studies at New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) in Auckland.
Moving from Auckland to Whangamatā has been a beautiful adventure for me, and I truly love being here. I enjoy travelling with my family, exploring new places, and creating special memories together.
I love children from the bottom of my heart and feel passionate about supporting the community in raising and nurturing these young minds, who are the pillars of our future society. I believe in creating a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged to learn and grow.

With over 28 years in Early Childhood Education, my journey began as a home-based carer while raising my own tamariki, where I quickly discovered that teaching wasn’t just a job, it was my passion. Since 2018, I’ve been in management, supporting kaiako and whānau while continuing to nurture a love of learning in our youngest learners.
Whangamatā has always been home to me. My family has deep roots here, dating back to the 1950s when they first bought a bach on Pipi Road. I’m wife to my wonderful Scottish husband John, and mum to Maddi and Joel. My journey with Multiple Sclerosis has shaped my perspective on life, strengthening my empathy, resilience, and deep belief in the importance of inclusion and support for all.

I moved to Aotearoa New Zealand in June 2024 to complete my Postgraduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education at ICL Graduate Business School in Auckland. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Music (Instrumental).
Working with tamariki brings me so much joy and purpose. I love being alongside them as they explore, learn, and grow, especially those special moments when their faces light up with pride. My name is Cara and I have been working in ECE for close to 20 years. I have worked within all age groups and have enduring passion for each age group. Hi, my name is Nelia Gutierrez.
I graduated Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Mathematics teacher in the Philippines. I spent many Sundays’ volunteering as a kaiako in our church in the Philippines and now here in New Zealand at Hope Chapel, which developed my love for working with children. I studied the New Zealand Diploma in Childhood Education and Care Level 5 in Vision College and currently studying Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) in New Zealand Tertiary College. Having the ability to influence children and to be able to make a difference in the lives of the tamariki and their whanau in meaningful ways is what I love most about being a teacher. Another part of being a teacher which I love is the continuous learning I am experiencing from the tamariki, my co-teachers, whanau and the community and having the knowledge about the different cultures of the different tamariki. I’m Mama to 4 daughters who over the years have taught me about the wonders and challenges of discovering who you are and creating space in the world to be yourself. I’m a qualified kaiako who loves learning and exploring new ways of doing things, often researching or finding professional development to enhance my own understanding of the world around me and the people who are my community.
Whanaungatanga (relationships) is central to everything that I do, I love making connections to others and finding out backgrounds, whakapapa, whaanau values, aspirations, the things that each whaanau hold important to themselves and their tamariki. This helps me to understand who the tamariki are, the kete of knowledge and skills that they come with and how I can nurture, uphold and support the mana, wairau and mauri of each tamaiti. My Passion for working with children started when I was still a child, always caring for those younger around me, at church and at school. My name is Emma and I have been teaching for over 20 years now. During this time I have developed a huge passion for infants and toddlers, spending most of my years with this age. I have also spent a lot of my teaching career mentoring and leading other teachers, and hope that I have left a positive mark on all of them in some way. My job/career means a lot to me, and I strive to make this reflective in my daily practice. I hold a mindset of continuous growth and learning for myself, putting what I learn into practice and striving to be a better teacher, leader, work colleague and version of myself.
I am a very family-orientated person and have three children of my own, three fur babies, and an awesome husband that I’m doing life with. In our spare time we like to go dirt biking, mountain biking, camping, and taking our family on adventures making memories with them. We really value the importance of experiences over things in our home and spending quality time together.
As a teacher I believe in the importance of open-ended play and allowing children to take control of their learning, showing confidence in them and their capabilities. I am a strong advocate for respectful care and believe I am an authentic, teaching from the heart kind of teacher. For me this started as a project of passion. How can I personally create a great environment for my child that is coming into the world very soon, that will allow my wife Becks to be able to keep teaching and also be able to be Mum. As part of the journey of understanding what we wanted to build I learnt that there was a fantastic opportunity to be able to grow individuals in the industry, how can we develop a brand that is recognised in the future as being the place that teachers want to work at. One that is going to grow our teachers and help with their career progression.
As a finance professional, I have had the privilege of working in several successful business, surrounded by some excellent leaders. I got involved in Growing Wings because I wanted to help create a centre that gave future leaders of the industry an opportunity to thrive while growing our tamariki to reach their full potential.
