Primary care is something we are extremely passionate about here at Growing Wings. When you walk through our doors, it is one of the first things you will hear about but also see in action.
A beautiful metaphor we use to explain primary care is; imagine your precious pepi is a little buzzy bee setting out on their new adventure. Their primary care kaiako is their favourite flower in this new environment, the one who they’ve naturally gravitated towards. Their special flower is there to fulfil their needs holistically, ensuring that when they’re ready, they are confident to explore further. As they explore, they’ll meet new flowers (kaiako) along the way who can support and nurture them, all while knowing that one special flower is always going to be there and feel like home
As primary care kaiako we aim to do 80% of your child’s rituals ensuring that there is a strong reciprocal partnership built on the foundations of love, respect and trust. We are the ones who know your child as if they were our own. Ensuring we know their favourite way to be rocked to sleep or the name of their special cuddly.
A bonded secure attachment is a child’s safe anchor in the big unknown world. This is fundamental to healthy brain development and therefore all development. Tamariki learn when they feel safe, loved and heard, and that’s what we are here to do. At Growing Wings we have created an environment where primary care for all ages is a non negotiable! To ensure our tamariki are free to learn with their best interests at the forefront of every decision.
